On 24th July 2017, in an official press release, EON Productions announced the release date for the film in the United States.
On 20th September 2018, also in an official press release, EON announced the release date for the film in the United States has been amended to Valentine's Day 2020. In the same press release, it was announced that Cary Joji Fukunaga had been signed as new director after the previously signed director, Danny Boyle, had left the project due to creative differences.
On 15th February 2019, in an official statement, it was announced that the release date for the film has been changed to 8th April 2020.
