Freddie Wadling With a licence to kill
To say that Freddie Wadling is as fascinated by films as of their music has probably not escaped any of his followers. Therefore, it is not illogical to him on his new album With A License To Kill puts his unique mark on twelve famous theme songs from the James Bond movies. The album is released on November 9, 2011 and is followed by concerts in Stockholm and Gothenburg.

UPDATE 2016: "It is with a heart full of sadness that I sadly must announce that Freddie Wadling, after a rapid course of the disease, died yesterday on 2 June. Freddie was 64 years old.

2016 should have been Freddie's year. He released his fantastic album "After the rain", exhibited his brilliant paintings and gave three highly acclaimed concerts. And we all looked forward to a wider audience discover him through his involvement in "Så mycket bättre". Next year he was scheduled to appear in a musical at Helsingborg Arena.

Freddie had a unique ability to interpret everything from punk to jazz and classical music with rock, ballads and pop, and he made all music his own. I know that Freddie did not want to look back, he always wanted to go on, but now that it's the only thing we can do. Listen to your favorite Freddie song and remember a humble man, full of humor and warmth. Sweden has lost a unique voice but is left with his tunes.

I understand that many people want to express their grief but I ask you to respect Bella, the family and friends and let them mourn in peace. The pain and grief is endless." – Charlott Stenberg (admin for Freddie's page on Facebook)

Freddie Wadling voice has unique qualities. It has drama, experience and desire. Its rugged pride crooner combines elegance with a stripped-down vulnerability. Wadling's varied musical background has seen him sing punk, electronic alternative rock, Captain Beefheart covers and popular earrings. A number of solo albums have been dressed in different musical costumes, but many agree that his voice at its best come into its own with sparse accompaniment. That is also how the idea for this album was born. Freddie and cellist Sebastian Öberg interprets twelve diverse Bond songs and also found, on Wadling own initiative, the theme from the television series Danger Man, "Secret Agent Man".

"I remember thinking: A shame there aren't more we can use," says Wadling. "But then we tested a few more and they grew on me when I was getting myself into them. Also, most texts are not as nonsense-like as one might think when you hear the over loaded, albeit beautiful, original arrangements. It is not black or white, but often involves more complex emotions."

And what voice fits better than Freddie Wadling's to evoke feelings of betrayal, love, suspicion, murderous entity and forbidden passion.

"One falls in love with the songs when you sing them," admits Freddie. "Goran had free hands with A View to A Kill - he is a master of the trumpet," Wadling continues, who contributed with his iPhone! Primarily with keyboard apps - but also made sure it actually rang when they recorded Secret Agent Man!"
