Britt Ekland The Man with the Golden Gun
The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia presents This Day in James Bond History - wishing The Man with the Golden Gun's Britt Ekland a very happy birthday.

In decidedly one of the more goofball roles of her career, the lovely Swedish import was cast as MI-6 assistant Mary Goodnight, sent to the far east to help James Bond track down Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee), nicknamed the man with the golden gun, who charges a million dollars a hit.

It’s very hard to treat the ninth James Bond movie very seriously – even M and Q are portrayed comically as a bunch of quarreling magpies – but Mary Goodnight spends most of the film either in a closet or thrown into the trunk of Scaramanga’s car/plane. She’s gorgeous of course, and between Britt and those dazzling islands off the coast of Thailand, there’s plenty of eye candy in the film. But she deserved a better role.

However, let’s hoist one to another Swedish beauty who raised our temperature on the tropical side of 007 country.
