Jaws in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME 1977 and MOONRAKER 1979
I have met and seen
Richard Kiel many times over the years. Three times in London at the premiere of DIE ANOTHER DAY, Planet Hollywood restaurant and during the tribute to him at
An afternoon with Richard Kiel at Pinewood Studios.
I have also seen him one time at an autograph show in Northampton and one time in Birmingham at NEC film fair.
In 2006 I had three new opportunities to meet Mr Kiel, first at the
Vue Sur Bond event in Quebec City during the weekend of February 24-26, 2006 and again a week later when he was in Gothenburg for a convention. The last time was at Autographica in June.
He is always very friendly although sometimes very busy because of the very long lines of queuing people who want to have a chat with him. Without hesitating I could easily say that he’s always the most popular person for any fan to meet. It’s very easy to agree as he is very charming and kind to everyone and, of course, he has also been voted as the best Bond villain of the whole series!
At one occasion I asked him what his best memory of Cubby Broccoli was upon he replied that it was when Cubby, out of his own pocket, paid the flight for his pregnant wife’s doctor to fly in from Los Angeles to England as Richard were busy filming!
Hereby, I would like to tell all visitors of this page what a giant this gentleman really is, both length and heart wise.
