I first met Peter Janson-Smith at the 40th Anniversary event of Thunderball at Cine Lumiere in London on November 20th 2005.

My most recent encounter with the literary icon was in London during a weekend in early 2012 in conjunction with the opening of the 50th Anniversary exhibition Bond in Motion in Beaulieu.

I was delighted to enjoy two dinners with the man himself, he is a dear gentleman with a great sense of humour and a big heart. Peter and Lili, his long-time partner, are really an adoring couple of which I cannot say anything except good things.

I feel extremely privileged to have spent several hours in Peter's company, a real legend within the world of Bond with so many nice and fascinating stories about his work and friendship with Ian Fleming.

Besides Peter's involvement with Ian Fleming's James Bond novels, he was the Executive Trustee of the Pooh Properties Trust, i.e. Winnie the Pooh, for over 30 years. He has participated in the selection of Crime Writers' Association Ian Fleming Steel Dagger nominations, and is currently the President of Ian Fleming Foundation. His partner, Lili Pohlmann, was married to the late Eric Pohlmann, coincidentally the man behind the voice of Bond’s nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld in From Russia with Love (1963).
