James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

George Lazenby is a very likeable and independent person with a very interesting life story including famously walking away from the role of 007 after only one film having been advised by his manager at the time that James Bond was over.

When I first met him, at Autographica in Northampton 2002, the queue of waiting fans was enormous but he gently signed photos for everyone.

Later the same year, I saw him at the Royal World premiere of Die Another Day (2002) in London and as a surprise guest introducing the women at "An evening with the Bond women" event.

The third time I had the privilege to meet Lazenby was at Pinewood Studios during a celebration of him as James Bond in June 2005. Like at previous events, he made many Bond fans happy who appreciated his appearance.

Among things he said at the Pinewood event was that he and his wife Pam Shriver (one of the world's best double tennis players) were expecting twins. I asked him about his current handicap in golf as he, like Sir Sean, has a worm for this sport. George said it was currently at 8. At the same event, he introduced a special screening of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) in Theatre 7 which made it a very special and memorable day for everyone in attendance.

Many thanks to George for taking time to meet his fans and fingers crossed he keep swinging those golf clubs for many years to come.
