Film producer and long time friend with Albert R. Broccoli.
It was very nice to meet film producer Euan Lloyd at the 40th Anniversary event of Thunderball at Cine Lumiere in London on 20th November 2005.
Euan Lloyd began his career directing short travelogue documentaries, starting with
April in Portugal (1954). From there he became associate producer and producer on numerous international films such as
The Secret Ways (1961) starring Swedish related actor Richard Widmark,
The Poppy Is Also a Flower (1966) directed by
Terence Young after a story by
Ian Fleming,
Murderer's Row (1966) starring Swedish actress Ann-Margret, westerns such as
Shalako (1968) starring
Sean Connery, and
Catlow (1971).
In the 1970s, Lloyd went independent, but his first effort,
Paper Tiger (1975), was not a success. He put everything he had behind the 10 USD million action film
The Wild Geese (1978). He followed with
The Sea Wolves (1980) co-starring
Roger Moore and David Niven, and
Who Dares Wins (1982) co-starring Richard Widmark.
His last film was
Wild Geese II (1985) co-starring
Edward Fox and Barbara Carrera.
Lloyd appeared in the short documentary
The Last of the Gentleman Producers which accompanied the 2004 release of
The Wild Geese on DVD, and also contributed to the audio commentary alongside Roger Moore and editor/second unit director
John Glen.
