Book review: Quantum Of Silliness written by Robbie Sims

With Quantum Of Silliness, author Robbie Sims demonstrates two things. One, he knows his Bond films and two, he is very funny. This laugh-out-loud collection of observations and clever puns is brought together in various sections such as ‘Alternative Film Titles’, ‘Thoughts from the Cubby Hole’ and ‘Shady Tree’s Dodgy Dad Jokes’ (my favourite being the answer to ‘What’s Mr Big’s favourite Britpop anthem?’!
Produced in the same vein as the publisher’s previous musings of a certain villain’s pet in
The World According To Blofeld’s Cat,
Quantum of Silliness even shares the same cover artist,
Adrian Teal, who showcases his skills as a caricaturist, creating the spitting image of all the Bonds, girls, villains and even a cameo from the aforementioned malevolent moggy.
Although no longer coinciding with the release of No Time To Die, the timing of this book actually could not have been better. With most of the world suffering the medical and economic effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and with many countries in various stages of lockdown, a little light relief is just what the doctor ordered.
