No Time To Die theme song review ledmotiv recensio
Fresh off the Oscar telecast for 2019 we have probably just heard the winner for 2020... Billie Eilish's theme song for No Time To Die is haunting, atmospheric, original, lyrically sinewy and slowly, gradually, searingly Bondian. Suffused with the melancholy of an autumn at the beach in Royale-les-Eaux, it seems a fitting theme for finale of the most emotionally wrought Bond ever.

Eilish stylishly extracts maximum yearning burnt through with Johnny Marr's Vic Flick-ian guitar line and Hans Zimmer's sunset orchestration. I can imagine it sensually snug within Daniel Kleinman's titles at the cinema in April 2020.

The youngest artist to achieve such an honour, the track has been co-written by her brother Finneas. Following her 5 Grammy award wins and performance of The Beatles' “Yesterday” at the Oscars, Eilish is the talent of her age. A critically revered popstar, she also had the highest selling US album of 2019.

Following on from Sam Smith, Adele, Jack White & Alicia Keys and Chris Cornell, Eilish is in perfect step with the vocal artists of the Daniel Craig era of Bond films. Demographically hip, cutting edge with a commercial appeal, they represent their era in music - a marketing quadrant not usually catered to by a 007 film.

Time will tell whether “No Time To Die” becomes as timeless as some of the previous tunes. Let's hope she has the luck of the Eilish: the last two Bond songs won Oscars. Like Billie's track, we may get a 007 adventure unlike any other. But a Bond film to perhaps re-write the rulebook for the Rolls-Royce of franchises.

NO TIME TO DIE lyrics

I should have known
I'd leave alone
Just goes to show
That the blood you bleed
Is just the blood you owe

We were a pair
I saw you there
Too much to bear
You were my life but
Life was far away from fair

Was I stupid to love you?
Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else?

That I've fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once fool my twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

I let it burn
You're no longer my concern
Faces from my past return
Another lesson yet to learn

That I've fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once fool my twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

No time to die
No, no time to die

Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell
