According to the very reliable Baz Bamigboye of Daily Mail, double Academy Award winning (for roles in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained) Austrian actor Christoph Waltz has signed to appear in Bond 24 alongside Ben Whishaw, Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear and Ralph Fiennes to be directed by Sam Mendes.
Earlier this year, Waltz was a member of the International Jury at
Berlinale along with Bond producer
Barbara Broccoli.
Other Austrian people in the Bond film series include professional poker dealer
Andreas Daniel (Casino Royale), actor Klaus Maria Brandauer (Never Say Never Again) and stuntman
Christian Schmidt (partly doubled for Timothy Dalton on The Living Daylights).
It has also been announced that the new Bond film will be shot on location in Austria (Obertilliach), Italy (Rome), London, Morocco and Mexico.
Also worth noting is that "Bond 24" apparently will be shot on ordinary film and not digital which was the case with
Skyfall (2012).
Editor's note:
Christoph Waltz played a German spy in the 1989 film
Goldeneye based on Bond creator
Ian Fleming's life starring Charles Dance as Fleming. (Roger Moore's daughter
Deborah Moore played Ian's secretary in the film.)
