This day marks the birthday of Barbara Broccoli, half-sister of Michael G. Wilson and daughter of Dana Broccoli (1922-2004) & Albert R. Broccoli (1909-1996), executive producer (with Michael) for every James Bond film since 1995.

About Barbara Broccoli:
Barbara Broccoli is a graduate of Loyola University in Los Angeles where she majored in motion picture and television communications, Barbara Broccoli has worked in the production and casting departments at Eon Productions for over 30 years.

Starting her career as an assistant director on Octopussy (1983) (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985), Barbara worked her way up to become associate producer on The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989).

Together with Michael, Barbara have produced GoldenEye (1995) (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), Die Another Day (2002), Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008) and the latest film, awarded with two Academy Awards and two BAFTA's amongst many others, and hugely successful Skyfall (2012) (2012).

Through her own independent production company, Astoria Productions, Barbara produced Crime of the Century (1996) for HBO, starring Stephen Rea and Isabella Rossellini and directed by Mark Rydell from a screenplay by William Nicholson based on a book by Ludovic Kennedy. The television film, about the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby, was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards – Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor – in the category covering Motion Pictures or Mini-Series made for Television.

Barbara is Chair of First Light, UK Film Council’s filmmaking initiative for young people.

In 2003, together with Dana, Michael and Barbara produced the award winning stage version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which opened to rave reviews in London and later in New York.

Together with MGW, Barbara has produced a number of other stage productions including “La Cava” (2000) and A Steady Rain (2009) (the latter starring Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman). More recently, Broccoli and Wilson adapted “Chariots of Fire” which opened in London’s West End during the 2012 Olympic summer.

Barbara was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in Her Majesty the Queen’s New Years Honours list 2008 for services to the Film Industry.

She acted as one of the producers behind A Steady Rain, a Broadway play starring Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman, in 2009.

In June 2012, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson won a Tony Award for Best Musical as producer of Once: The musical.

In May 2013 it was announced that Barbara and Michael's production company, EON Productions, will executively produce and co-finance a new film project outside of their commitments with the James Bond series. The film, The Silent Storm, is a drama starring British actors Damian Lewis and Andrea Riseborough. Filming begins at the end of June 2013 in Scotland.
