Never Say Never Again Actor Bernie Casey (1939-2017)

FSWL is sad to report the passing of Bernie Casey (1939-2017), American actor and NFL football planner who portrayed Felix Leiter opposite Sean Connery's James Bond in Never Say Never Again (1983), at the age of 78. Our thoughts now goes to Bernie's family and friends.

Casey was 6 feet, four inches, so was one of the few NSNA cast members who towered over star Sean Connery (a “mere” 6 feet 2 inches). Bernie also co-starred with Burt Reynolds in 1981’s Sharky’s Machine, and in Martin Scorsese’s Boxcar Bertha. He also played a naval officer in Steven Seagal’s [who taught Connery stick fighting, or Kendo, for You Only Live Twice!] 1992 action hit Under Siege. And aside from his acting talents, Bernie was also a poet!

Actress and FSWL supporter Barbara Carrera (Fatima Blush in Never Say Never Again) remembers Bernie:

"Bernie Casey had a presence that one does not forget. He was best described as a GENTLE GIANT.
Even though we had no scenes together in Never Say Never Again, we did work on some of the same days so I had an opportunity to get to know his wonderful humor and gentle kindness. He will be missed.

Actor and FSWL supporter Bruce Glover (Mr Kidd in Diamonds Are Forever) remembers Bernie:

"DAMN DAMN DAMN - Worked with Bernie on Black Gunn (1972), my favorite Police story. I was the main Maifa white evil dude with Bernie as the Baddy - I was the good guy. Bernie was great! We often chatted at Academy screenings. I will miss him, a TRUE pro."
