FSWL contributor Jon Auty has announced the publication of his book The Definitive Stunt History of the James Bond Movies, a labour of love that has taken the best part of 25 years to get completed. Foreword by five-time Bond director John Glen and cover design by Mark Witherspoon who also designed the cover for Some Kind Of Hero: The Remarkable Story Of The James Bond Films.
There have been so many books written with accounts of stunt performers and action sequences in Film and Television that are just incorrect. Jon Auty has a reputation for making sure that credit is given where credit is due and in order to do that, he must check all the facts and sources first.
This book is the definitive history of the stunts on the James Bond movies.
Every stunt in every film and stories from those who performed the 'gags' or those who coordinated the action. A rollercoaster ride through the first 23yrs of James Bond on the big screen. This book also includes the action from Casino Royale (1967) and Never Say Never Again (1983) - so it is a conclusive as it possibly gets.
Contributions from many of the world's top stunt professionals who have not only worked on the Bond films, but in many cases doubled the lead actor.
Another point to mention is that whenever stunts and Bond are put together - the same stunts are talked about. The ski jump from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), the freefall stunt from the pre title sequence of Moonraker (1979). The truth is that these stunts, wonderful visually, re not the only action scenes in the films. Fights, falls, horses, explosions, fire - you name it, and this book covers it.
Jon Auty comments, “I'm absolutely thrilled with this first volume and can't wait for the fans to read it”.
