Stuntman who worked on nine official James Bond films between 1963 and 1999
FSWL contributor Mikael Ström met Terry Richards at Collectormania in May 2008. He kindly took the photos below exclusively for FSWL and added that Terry was a really nice person.
The big (almost six foot four) British-born Terry Richards is best known as the show-off Arab Swordsman that Indiana Jones shoots dead in an iconic sequence from
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
Terry's stunt work on the official James Bond film series include
From Russia with Love (1963),
Goldfinger (1964) (1964),
You Only Live Twice (1967),
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969),
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977),
Octopussy (1983) (1983),
A View to a Kill (1985),
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and
The World Is Not Enough (1999).
Additionally, Terry also worked on the unofficial Bond spoof
Casino Royale in 1967 featuring no less than five 007s, male and female: David Niven (as Sir James Bond), Peter Sellers,
Ursula Andress, Daliah Lavi and Terence Cooper.
In our eyes, Terry is a very special person as he has worked with four of the James Bond actors -
Sean Connery (apart from the Bonds, also on
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 1989),
George Lazenby,
Roger Moore (
The Persuaders 1971 and
The Wild Geese 1978) and
Pierce Brosnan.
“Terry is a legend in the film business. I have had so much fun with him from the very first time I met him on
You Only Live Twice.”
–
Vic Armstrong (2nd unit director/stunt coordinator on
Tomorrow Never Dies,
The World Is Not Enough,
Die Another Day and many more big-budget films)
