Author of six official James Bond novels and three short stories between 1997 and 2002.
I was very fortunate to finally meet the man, the myth and the legend that is Raymond Benson in New York (November 2007) during a James Bond symposium at Hofstra University titled The World of 007.
About author Raymond Benson
Raymond Benson is the author of six official James Bond novels (
Zero Minus Ten,
The Facts of Death,
High Time to Kill,
Doubleshot,
Never Dream of Dying and
The Man With the Red Tattoo), three 007 short stories (
Blast from the past,
Midsummer night's doom and
Live at Five) and three Bond film novelizations (
Tomorrow Never Dies,
The World Is Not Enough and
Die Another Day) between 1997 and 2002.
Other of his Bond related work include: the
A View To A Kill and
Goldfinger computer games in 1985 and 1986 respectively, the
You Only Live Twice II: Back Of Beyond role-playing game in 1986, a
Casino Royale stage play (1986) based on
Ian Fleming’s novel although never produced.
Raymond also wrote the best non-fiction Bond book ever created -
The James Bond Bedside Companion, originally published in 1984 and updated in 1988.
I cannot describe the feeling and privilege of meeting Raymond, a truly wonderful person and talented artist. In my eyes, a pioneer in the field of Bond fandom and an inspiration to all of the authors who have continued to write about the James Bond phenomenon over the years.
Not only did he share many memories and stories, he also entertained the audience with a piano medley of music from the James Bond which made me get tears in my eyes! Not because I personally tried to play piano for some years without any success or talent whatsoever, but, because it was so nice and absolutely fantastic, unforgettable Raymond!
Thanks for everything Raymond. And btw, I am not cool, you are!
