Delighted to finally meet Jason Connery, the only son of Sir Sean Connery, at the Edinburgh premiere and after-party for Tommy's Honour (now available on DVD), a wonderfully produced film directed by Jason.

[Anders:] "My name is Anders and I've come here from Sweden to meet you."
[Jason:] "Sweden? Are you the man behind From Sweden with Love?"

About actor and director Jason Connery

Jason Connery has appeared in over 60 films, television movies and series since his breakthrough role as Robin Hood in the UK television series Robin of Sherwood in 1985.

The son of Sean Connery and Diane Cilento. Connery grew up in London and Scotland. He attended boarding school at Somerset, where he received a half-scholarship for swimming and held the under-16 freestyle record for the south of England. Connery’s interest in acting developed while studying at Gordonstoun School in the north of Scotland. He started the Inter-House Players Group – wherein two houses combine to put on one play each term.

Connery also took on directing duties and directed fellow classmate Edward Wessex (aka Prince Edward) in “Hotel Paradiso”. Connery was accepted to The Bristol Old Vic Drama School and, one year later, to Perth Repertory Company in Scotland. For six months, he did weekly repertory work, acted, and worked as the assistant stage manager in an effort to earn his Equity card. He worked hard, rehearsing one play by day and performing another by night, learning as much as he could along the way. His big break came in 1985 when he took over the role of Robin Hood in the very popular UK television series Robin of Sherwood. The role launched him to stardom in England and he remains a cult favourite with the show’s passionate fans.

He has since had starring roles in feature films including Return of the Thief of Baghdad, Bullet to Beijing, Macbeth, Urban Ghost Story, Shanghai Noon, Wishmaster 3 The Gates of Hell, and Night skies. He has also starred in television movies including Merlin, Spymaker The Secret Life of Ian Fleming, Lightspeed, Mountain of Diamonds, and many television series like Smallville, Liberty’s Kids and Shoebox Zoo.

In 1996, he married actress Mia Sara and they have one son, Dashiell Connery. The couple divorced in 2002.Connery had directed plays many years ago but after starting “Short Mondays” with friend Jonathan Fraser, where film makers could come and show their films and have a Q and A session afterwards on the first Monday of every month, he threw himself into making short films all leading toward his first feature, Pandemic (2009), which he also produced. He went on to direct and produce The Devil's Tomb (2009), direct 51 (2011) and The Philly Kid. The latter was released thru Warner Brothers in May 2012.

Jason has a number of projects in development including Of Corsets Mine, a period romantic comedy set in Ireland. Through affiliations with Coventry University’s new filmmaking facility and the “Independent Filmmakers Group” Connery has been giving Master Classes on Low Budget Film Making, giving a full insight into the process from start to finish. He has also over the last three years been touring the United States teaching an intense weekend acting class, starting with the basics and working towards an on-camera monologue and specifically picked scene for each individual.
