Izabella Scorupco confirmed for leading role in new TV series

Thriller series Eldmärkt is the latest addition in Viaplay's line of original productions. An urban fantasy thriller in a modern Stockholm environment produced by Yellow Bird. The main roles are played by Izabella Scorupco (GoldenEye) and August Wittgenstein (Das Boot, The Crown).

Eldmärkt is a series with a strong drive and tight tension. At the core of the story lies the search for one's origin; a hunt that leads us into a hidden world characterised by dark secrets and powerful forces.

"It is a pleasure to portray such a multi-faceted character. An extremely strong woman, both physically and mentally, but at the same time sensitive and constantly on the verge of personal collapse," says Izabella Scorupco.

The TV series is based on the acclaimed thriller novel Förstfödd (Firstborn), written by author and actor Filip Alexanderson. Conceptual director is Jonathan Sjöberg (Svartsjön, 100 Code) who wrote the series together with Björn Paqualin.

"I became hooked on the well-written script and look forward to working with the talented team in creating a unique and exciting television series," said August Wittgenstein.

"Eldmärkt is an incredibly fascinating and exciting addition to Viaplay's original productions. We look forward to creating this unique series together with our amazing cast and Yellow Bird," commented Lina Brounéus, COO Content Viaplay.

The new Viaplay original is produced by Yellowbird; one of Scandinavia's leading production companies behind a series of internationally recognized and successful series, including Ockupationen, Millenium and Wallander.

"Eldmärkt will surprise with an exciting and complete world that is extremely familial but still different, where everything can happen, and nothing is as you think," says Berna Levin, producer at Yellow Bird.

Eldmärkt is a Viaplay original series of eight episodes produced by Yellow Bird in collaboration with Tele München Gruppe, Lumière and Banijay Rights. The thrillers series will be distributed globally by Banijay Rights.

Filming commence in January 2018 with a Nordic premiere exclusively on Viaplay and later on TV3 in Sweden.
