In a PM from Miss Moneypenny's desk in London, Ian Fleming Publications informs that the new hardback editions of Ian Fleming's James Bond books is now available from their online shop. Classification: Gold level (For Your Eyes Only)
The message reads...
“To our agents in the field,
It was domination by a beauty so pure that it held a kind of truth, a divine authority before which all other material things turned, like the bit of quartz, to clay.
So writes
Ian Fleming in
Diamonds are Forever (1956). Indeed, Fleming was always a great appreciator of beauty – be it in cars, or nature or a finely-crafted sentence.
As a collector of beautiful things, we have no doubt that the new hardback editions of his fourteen Bond stories, released today by
Ian Fleming Publications, would find a home on his bookshelves. Featuring beautiful new cover art and bespoke endpapers designed by the legendary
Michael Gillette, they also each contain specially selected archival material – for example,
Casino Royale (1953) includes Fleming’s reply to a reader attempting to correct some of his French. Ian was left feeling secoué, pas remué.

The new editions are available throughout the United Kingdom at all fine purveyors of books, and are available in the States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand via the IFPL online shop.
If you’d like some further insight into the process of designing the meticulously crafted look of this new collection, you can find an interview with Gillette on the
IFP site. Perfect reading for a tea break between typing up case reports.
Agents are reminded that a limited number of paperback copies of Nicholas Shakespeare’s award-winning biography Ian Fleming: The Complete Man, signed by the author, are currently available
here. Dare I suggest that they may make rather lovely gifts for the festive season, should one be inclined to strategise ahead.
Sincerely,
Miss Moneypenny”
