Lisa Langseth's new film Euphoria will its Nordic premiere in the main competition at Gothenburg Film Festival on 27th January 2018. The film stars Swedish Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, Eva Green (Vesper Lynd in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale) och Charles Dance (Claus in the 1981 Bond film For Your Eyes Only). In connection with the film premiere, Alicia Vikander makes an exclusive visit to Sweden to receive the film festival's honorary prize that Ralph Fiennes (M in Skyfall and Spectre) received in 2014.

The film had its World premiere in the competition at the Toronto Film Festival in September earlier this year. Now it is announced that the film will premiere in Sweden as the main event at Gothenburg's Film Festival in January.

"It feels incredibly nice to be honored by the festival and to receive this award when Euphoria finally reaches the Swedish audience. To work with Lisa again has been a pleasure. Lisa tells stories that no one else dares but feels genuine for close to topics that everyone can relate to. Euphoria is extra special to me as it's the first film I'm co-producing. It has a distinct female voice, spotted with female talent on both sides of the camera," says star Alicia Vikander (soon to be seen as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider).

Euphoria is Lisa Langseth's first English-language film and the third movie she's made with Vikander. Lisa Langseth discovered her and gave her the lead in the 2010 film To What's Beautiful, which also became Alicia Vikander's major breakthrough. The duo reunited for the 2013 film Hotell [an FSWL favourite], which focuses on emotional issues bordering on the absurd. With Euphoria, Lisa Langseth now expands her narrative and expands Swedish filmmaking to an international level.

"Euphoria touches on topics we all face at some point in life, where we are forced to meet ourselves through the choices we made,” the director explains, asking, "Who is responsible for our happiness and how do we relate to those we are close to?”  She also had warm words for her star, saying, "Alicia is amazing in her role and it has been incredibly fun and developing to work with her again.”

Euphoria is produced by B-Reel Films, Vikarious Film (Alicia Vikander's newly founded company in London) and Dancing Camel Films. A co-production with Filmregion Stockholm-Mälardalen/Film Capital Stockholm, Nordsvensk Filmunderhållning, National Swedish Television, SF Studios and Reel Ventures with support from the Swedish Film Institute (Baker Karim), Nordic Film & TV Fund and FFF Bayern. The film region has also invested in the film via Spellbound Capital.

Euphoria is distributed by SF Studios and premieres at Swedish cinemas on February 2, 2018.
