The James Bond world mourns the passing of British make-up artist Paul Engelen. He passed away on 3rd November 2024 at the age of 75 after a period of illness. Our thoughts go to his family.
Paul Engelen was born in Walton-on-Thames in England on 30th October 1949. His career in the film business spanned over 50 years and included six James Bond movies.
He worked as makeup artist on
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974),
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and
Moonraker (1979). All starring
Roger Moore as Ian Fleming's 007. 23 years later, he returned to the James Bond franchise as makeup supervisor on
Die Another Day (2002) starring
Pierce Brosnan. He also worked with
Daniel Craig on
Casino Royale (2006) and
Quantum of Solace (2008).
