From Sweden with Love joins EON Productions and the entire Broccoli family in mourning the passing of longtime friend, confidante and author - Donald Zec. He passed away on 6th September 2021.
Donald Zec, a noted British journalist and longtime friend of Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, is known to Bond fans as the co-author of When the Snow Melts: The Autobiography of Cubby Broccoli which he wrote with the famed producer.
Over his long career, Zec interviewed numerous showbiz icons including Humphrey Bogart, David Niven, The Beatles and political figures of his day (including American president and former actor, Ronald Reagan), all part of a distinguished body of work that earned him the Order of the British Empire award (OBE) in 1970. He worked for The Daily Mirror for over 40 years and authored biographies of Elisabeth The Queen Mother, Sophia Lauren, Lee Marvin and others.
Howard Jacobson talks to Donald Zec about his time in Hollywood:
“We are so very sad to announce that our dear family friend, Donald Zec has sadly passed away, aged 102. Donald became a close friend of our father from the early 1950s and authored Cubby’s biography When The Snow Melts. His wit and wisdom will be sorely missed by all who knew him,” said a statement by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Donald Zec was over 100 years old, but his words will last forever.
