The critically acclaimed hybrid documentary Becoming Bond (2017) opens the festivities at this year's Revelation Perth International Film Festival in Australia with James Bond actor and Man of the Action, George Lazenby, as special guest.

George headlines the festival and will be there for the Opening Night screening of Becoming Bond with guests aplenty, lashings of free drinks and food, DJs and that special vibe that is Rev’s annual celebration of cinema.

Ticket are 56.50 AUD and includes film plus after party.

About the film:
Director: Josh Greenbaum / Year: 2017 / Country: USA / Duration: 92 minutes / Rated: M

Becoming Bond tells the story of George Lazenby, the Australian James Bond.
From his early career as a mechanic to taking on one of the most iconographic roles in film – despite never acting before – Lazenby’s biography is a larger than life tale of chance, risk, and opportunity.
This almost-unbelievable biography – Lazenby 'only' played Bond once, famously turning down the role after On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) – is brought to earth by director Greenbaum’s careful handling of the material.
On screen the charismatic Lazenby is the perfect storyteller and interviewee, meanwhile the dramatic recreations (with Josh Lawson playing Lazenby) add a depth to the material.

Becoming Bond is a film that appreciates and understands its subject and Lazenby’s wit and sense of the absurd are given space, but the film doesn’t gloss over his regrets either, all of which gives Becoming Bond a sense of genuine warmth.

Becoming Bond screenings:
Thursday July 6th, 7pm, Luna Leederville (Opening night)
Saturday July 8th, 8.45pm, Luna Leederville
Friday July 14th, 9pm, Luna SX
Monday July 17th, 2.45pm, Luna Leederville

*Lazenby will attend the first two screenings for a Q&A.

• Sunday July 9th at 1.30pm in Luna Leederville: On Her Majesty's Secret Service + George Lazenby in Conversation

This session includes an extended 60 minutes In Conversation with George Lazenby + a 45-minute autograph signing.
Special price apply: 25 AUD

For many fans of James Bond, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service ranks amongst the very best of the Bond movies. With a plot concerning germ warfare and the sinister SPECTRE organisation, headed by Ernst Stavro Blofeld, this is classic Bond that still seems contemporary.

The sixth film adapted from Ian Fleming’s books stars George Lazenby who stepped into the role vacated by Sean Connery with apparent ease, bringing a more natural nuance to Bond and leaving his own mark on 007. The film has all the classic Bond ingredients as well as boasting the dream cast that includes Telly Savalas as the villainous Blofeld, and, straight from appearing on the hit TV series The Avengers, Diana Rigg as Tracy.

This screening will feature an introduction by George Lazenby and will be followed by a very special In Conversation between George Lazenby and FilmInk’s Travis Johnson as well as an autograph signing session with George.

About George Lazenby:
There are a thousand ways to find fame in the movie industry, but few come close to George Lazenby who used his good looks, charm and a double-dose of Aussie self-confidence to win one of Cinema’s most coveted roles: James Bond, 007.
Born in Goulburn, Australia in 1939, Lazenby had little interest in schooling; instead choosing to find his own way– first as a highly successful car salesman, then as a top male model. It was his modeling career that brought him to London where an agent suggested he try to get an audition with the Bond filmmakers, not an easy proposition for someone with no acting experience! Not only did George get the audition, he landed the role and his film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), was a huge success and is now considered one of the best in the series.
Not wanting to be locked into Bondage, George again went his own way, appearing in a myriad of films including the 1972 action/thriller Universal Soldier; Hong Kong action films like The Man From Hong Kong (1975) and A Queen’s Ransom (1976); American TV series including Hawaii 5-0, Superboy and Baywatch.
He also starred in the Emmanuel series with Sylvia Kristel and still receives offers, appearing in recent movies like Death Game, A Winter’s Rose and the forthcoming crime thriller, The Order.
George is based in Los Angeles and is represented worldwide by Anders Frejdh. For more info, check out his IMDB profile.
