Naomie Harris (Moneypenny in Skyfall (2012) and the upcoming Bond 24) portrays the part as Nelson Mandela's wife (Winnie) in Justin Chadwick's multi-awarded film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The film opens at cinemas in Sweden on January 24, 2014.
The film about Nelson Mandela's extraordinary life, from his childhood in the countryside to his coronation as the first democratically elected President of South Africa. It is an exciting story about an ordinary man who took on a challenge for life and won an intimate portrait of a modern icon.
For millions of people all over the world, Mandela stands for triumph and hope instead of despair and hatred. In this revealing film, we take note of the events that finally took him from the prison at Robben Island to the ultimate power and the abolition of apartheid and his path to becoming an international icon. We also get to know a Mandela remained unknown to most of the world the man who loves fast cars and women, boxing enthusiast, the skilled lawyer and armed freedom fighter.
Mandela is portrayed by British actor Idris Elba, who broke through in the acclaimed series "The Wire" and, according to some sources, may well become
Daniels Craig's successor in the role as Bond.
The film is based on Nelson Mandela's autobiography
The Long Road to Freedom and produced after his blessing.
