Calling all Bond fans in Canada: Here's your chance to meet one of Sweden's finest in person. Kristina Wayborn will attend SuperFan ComicCon in Toronto, 17-19 May, 2014 (Victoria Day Weekend). Bond alumni Jeremy Bulloch will also be in attendance.
Kristina Wayborn is a Swedish-born actress who has worked mostly in the United States. She was elected Miss Sweden in 1970, and a semifinalist in the Miss Universe pageant that same year. She was also elected Miss Scandinavia in 1971.
Wayborn portrayed screen legend Greta Garbo in television movie
The Silent Lovers (1980) which brought her to the attention of the James Bond film producers.
She is possibly best known for her fight scene in
Octopussy (1983) (1983), in an era predating the big female action heroines of the box office. Her character Magda beat up many of Kamal Khan's guards, showing a surprising agility and acumen for martial arts.
She subsequently appeared in a number of American television series including The Love Boat, Airwolf, MacGyver, Dallas, General Hospital, Designing Women, Baywatch and That '70s Show, which reunited her with her Octopussy co-star
Maud Adams.
