About Honor Blackman:
Honor Blackman was given a choice on her 15th birthday - a bicycle or elocution lessons.... she chose the latter and launched herself on a career in show business.
At the age of 19, she made her first screen appearance in the Boulting Brothers’ film,
Fame is the Spur. Soon after she was signed by the Rank Organisation, & appeared in many of their productions, including,
A Night To Remember, Quartet along with guest starring in popular TV shows such as The Invisible Man, Danger Man, The Vise, and The Saint.
Beginning in 1962, she starred as Cathy Gale in
The Avengers, until 1964 when Honor was cast as Pussy Galore in
Goldfinger (1964) - arguably her most memorable screen role.
Honor remained busy in both TV & film, chalking up credits such as
Shalako,
The Upper Hand,
Bridget Jones’s Diary,
The Royal &
Colour me Kubrick with John Malkovich. More recently she has appeared in
Reuniting The Rubins,
Casualty & the BBC crime drama,
By Any Means. She is currently touring in her
new one woman show - As Herself.
Opposite
Sean Connery, she created one of cinemas most enduring figures & fifty years on, has not diminished in beauty or screen presence.
Editor's note:
Chalfont Park House was used as the location for 'Shrublands' during the filming of
Thunderball (1965) in 1965.
