Swedish actress Britt Ekland will make a special appearance at a 40th anniversary screening of The Wicker Man (1973) at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles on November 1, 2013. Britt will make an introduction to the 7:30pm screening followed by a Q&A after the film ends.
After receiving an anonymous letter about a missing 12-year-old girl, devout Christian and dedicated cop
Edward Woodward (1930–2009), travels by seaplane to a remote Scottish island to investigate. But the islanders welcome neither his badge nor religious devotion, for the laird of the isle (horror film legend
Christopher Lee) and his devoted followers worship only the pagan gods of old—and those gods demand a sacrifice. Woodward fears for the missing girl's life and follows every possible lead to find her - despite the islanders' interfering machinations - before she becomes a human sacrificial lamb.
Hammer vampiress
Ingrid Pitt (1937-2010) and Swedish blonde bombshell
Britt Ekland also star in this quintessential psychological thriller, celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a new digital restoration. Director
Robin Hardy authorized this "final cut," which for the first time since the 1970s will include scenes that were previously missing and restore scenes in the correct order, in a new DCP 2K restoration from 35mm materials.
