Skyfall nominated for 8 British Academy Film Awards: Won two

Skyfall (2012) is nominated for 8 BAFTA prizes at the EE British Academy Film Awards in London's Royal Opera House (Covent Garden) on February 10 (hosted by Stephen Fry). The show airs on BBC One at 9pm GMT, From Sweden with Love will post the results on this page throughout the evening.

Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper presented the Outstanding British Film Award. Producer Michael G. Wilson noted it was a first for the Bond films. Director Sam Mendes said the prize really is the “icing on the cake” of the film's worldwide success and thanked
Ian Fleming and
Daniel Craig in particular, adding: "We built the movie around Daniel and I want to thank him for his bravery, brilliance and sheer bloody-mindedness”.

About his award, Thomas Newman commented backstage: “You think it’s just music, and I’ve done music before, but then there’s James Bond staring at you – and you can’t help but remember that.”

Editor's note:
In addition to the BAFTA awards, Skyfall has won an award for
Best Cinematography (to Roger Deakins) from The Los Angeles Film Critics Association and
Best Original Song (to Adele) at the Golden Globe Awards.
Skyfall is also nominated to FIVE
Academy Awards, that show takes places in Los Angeles on February 24 with Adele performing the Skyfall theme song.
