Alan Cumming Rosamund Pike birthday
The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia presents This Day in James Bond Movie History - celebrating the birthday of Scottish actor Alan Cumming who potrayed Boris Grishenko in GoldenEye (1995). 27th January is also the birthday of Die Another Day actress Rosamund Pike.

Alan Cumming’s character qualifies as one of the most obnoxious characters ever to appear in the Bond series. We meet the egotistical twit at a Russian satellite command center, where he’s a colleague of Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco). But like Miranda Frost, Boris has another allegiance – secretly working as a computer hacker to the nefarious Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean) and his Janus Organization.

Rosamund Pike – tall and icy – had the perfect character name for that image – Miranda Frost. She’s billionaire Gustav Graves’ (Toby Stephens) right arm who James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) believes is a trusted member of MI-6, personally vetted by M (Judi Dench). We learn otherwise. Rosamund is a highlight of the film, and her fight to the death with Jinx (Halle Berry) is a satisfying one.

So let’s raise some vodka to these two duplicitous Bond characters who each receive their just desserts.
