The Swedish version of James Bond, agent Carl Hamilton (created by author Jan Guillou in 1986), return to the big screen. In the Interest of the Nation (2012), the first of three books in production, premieres in Swedish theatres on January 13, 2012.
Carl Hamilton manages to infiltrate an international gang who has stolen advanced Swedish GPS-guided missiles. The league is suddenly exposed to a deadly attack by a professional group of mercenaries with an unknown employer. Hamilton escapes the massacre but the rockets are disappeared without a trace.
Soon, they will be of use for an attack in which a Somali peace politician is killed by terrorists. At the same time, a Swedish weapons technician is kidnapped and ends up in Somali prison. The Swedish Prime Minister engages in the case and agrees to hire a private security company for a rescue - provided that a Swedish observer accompanies, namely Carl Hamilton. Hamilton is plagued by the realization that the years as a secret agent turned him into a killing machine, and want to leave this behind. He has met a new woman and hope for a turning point in life, but, soon realizes that there is a possible way out of a situation where world peace is threatened by corrupt politicians and war profiteers. A spectacular attack is planned in Stockholm and Hamilton is the only one who can stop it. It is a dangerous mission that takes Hamilton from Somalia's barren wasteland to Beirut's streets, and the Stockholm archipelago. He must do whatever is needed - in the national interest.
