35 years ago, Château Vaux-Le-Vicomte was used as location for the start of principal photography on Moonraker. Director Lewis Gilbert and the rest of the production team filmed the movie almost entirely in France, every Parisian studio was used for the film, the biggest Bond up to that point.

• 11 Aug 1978: Principal photography began with scenes at Drax’s pyramid (built at Pinewood)
• 29 Aug 1978: Lewis Gilbert shot Bond trying out the centrifuge trainer
• 1 Sep 1978: The model unit shot space exteriors for the film on F Stage at Pinewood
• 11 Sep 1978: Lewis Gilbert filmed Bond’s arrival at Hugo Drax’s chateau (Vaux-Le-Vicomte)
• 6 Mar 1979: The exteriors of the space station were shot
• 30 Mar 1979: The scene of Drax being ejected into space, never to be seen again, was filmed
