James's adventures continue in the Highlands of Scotland, where he investigates the mysterious disappearance of local boy Alfie Kelly, With the help of Alfie's irrepressible cousin Red. They soon make the unwelcome discovery that the castle at the end of the nearby loch is the home to the Hellebores and the centre of Randolph's terrifying genetics project; a project that must be destroyed at all costs.
