Beauty of Bond, 60 years of the 007 women
A very special book featuring FSWL reader Jeff Marshall's amazing work, with text by FSWL contributor Simon Firth, can now be ordered from beautyofbond.com. The book is filled with Jeff's beautiful artworks of the female characters in the James Bond films. The book is designed by FSWL reader Martijn Mulder, the man behind On The Tracks of 007, and published on 7th September 2023 by DMD Digital.

The James Bond film series is well-known for its ground breaking film making. Since 1962, actors from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig all had the distinct pleasure to portray Ian Fleming’s secret agent along with a variety of beautiful women. Some were innocent, some were naïve. Some were strong and determined; while some were the definition of evil.

The beautiful women surrounding James Bond are as much as a trademark of the films as the gadgets, cars and stunning locations. They all help make the films the spectacular stories we love so dearly, and this book looks at these women from a different and creative perspective.

About the artist

Born in 1959 in Philadelphia, USA, Jeff Marshall graduated the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 1981 and immediately started working as a self-employed creative developer and project director.

Illustrating how Jeff best communicates with images and graphics, his Life maxim is voiced by the words of George Lucas, who wrote: "Art is not only a powerful means of communication; it also has the ability to build ideas beyond the literal into the more spiritual." Jeff works to create images with a specific point of view to help communicate truly connected ideas and emotions.

His love for film and specifically the world of 007 started in the 1960s with Sean Connery’s take on the character and since that day has never once waned. The point at which mere fascination migrated to love for the world of the British secret agent James Bond, was when he saw for the first time the pre-credit sequence for You Only Live Twice (1967). To this day, it still stops him in his tracks.

As a self-employed artist, illustration opportunities present themselves in many shapes and forms. He has created a line of limited edition lithographs for EON Productions in the 1990s. CD, DVD, book and magazine covers are also a part of his trade. He undertakes private art commissions for graphic design and illustration and he regularly looks after the cover art for the On The Tracks Of 007 publications.

Jeff Marshall’s creative philosophy is one of craftsmanship, attention to detail and a constant effort to develop fresh originality in each and every solution.
