Chamonix: Where is Elektra's pipeline?

In 1988 my friends Jonas and Håkan went on a skiing trip to Chamonix which in 1999 was one of the locations for filming of The World Is Not Enough (1999) starring Pierce Brosnan as Ian Fleming's 007.
Jonas said they had a very nice time at this fantastic ski resort or, in other words, he managed to survive the slopes from the famous peak at
Les Grands Montets where one of the cameras shot sequences of the pipe line scenes in
The World Is Not Enough.
No villain aka
Renard (played by
Robert Carlysle) was there though, which was lucky for him I think! The pipe line itself was constructed through the Glacier d'Argentiere valley. In the film, you can see
James Bond (
Pierce Brosnan) and
Elektra King (
Sophie Marceau) overlooking the valley but they are actually standing on a platform to which you have to use stairs to access from the top cable car station.
The valley and the peak is visible in the photos on the right-hand side.
It was a most memorable trip for Jonas as he's a Bond scholar like me, although perhaps not as fanatic as yours truly.
Other locations that was used for the filming of
The World Is Not Enough and are worth visiting for all Bond travellers:
•
Bardenas Reales (Spain)
•
City of Baku (Azerbaijan)
•
Eilean Donan Castle (in
Scotland)
•
Guggenheim Museum (in
Bilbao)
•
Las Bardenas (Spain)
•
Las Majadas (Spain)
•
Maiden Tower (in
Istanbul)
•
River Thames (in London)
•
Stowe House (in Buckinghamshire, England)
•
The O2 in London (previously the Millennium Dome)
