Back in 2008, Sir Sean Connery joined other icons - like Mikhail Gorbachev, Catherine Deneuve, Keith Richards, and Francis Ford Coppola - to go before the Louis Vuitton lens as the new face of the label's Core Values campaign beautifully photographed by Annie Leibovitz.
For the ad, the original and best James Bond was photographed by the acclaimed Annie Leibovitz on a beach near his home in the Bahamas. It debuted in international publications including The Financial Times, Le Figaro and The New Yorker.
The iconic actor reclined on a wooden dock next to a waterproof version of Vuitton’s Keepall bag. Such is Sean Connery's natural elegance. The photo Leibovitz submitted was actually a test, before he was handed over to the hair and makeup crews. Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s Director of Communications at the time, commented:
“In this case, we had the opportunity to work with a legend,” he said. “He’d been on our list for a very long time.”
Connery the model truly had a fan in Antoine Arnault who continued to describe the actor as a legend.
“We were extremely proud that an actor of such immense stature agreed to participate in Louis Vuitton's Core Values campaign,” Arnault said back in 2008.
“The wonderful portrait, which captures all Sir Sean Connery's legendary allure, is bound to have a tremendous impact.”
Sir Sean Connery and Louis Vuitton supported Al Gore's The Climate Project with this campaign.
