Academy Award nominated actor and director Ralph Fiennes visits Sweden for Göteborg International Film Festival (GIFF) to receive the honorary Honorary Dragon Award. This will surely delight Swedish Bond fans as Fiennes took over the role of M, 007's legendary boss, in Skyfall (2012). (Fiennes will also play the part in Bond 24 which starts filming in late 2014 for a October 2015 release.)
With pride and joy, Göteborg International Film Festival presents the British actor and director Ralph Fiennes as recipients of the Honorary Dragon Award 2014!
The classic English literature runs like a red thread through Ralph Fiennes' career. From the feature film debut as an actor in Emily Brontë's
Wuthering Heights in 1992 to his directorial debut with Shakespeare's
Corolianus 2011 and his latest film,
The Invisible Woman, about author Charles Dickens 's secret love affair with a young actress. Ever since Fiennes international breakthrough with
Schindler’s List in 1993, he has been among the selected group of actors whose presence brings mysterious luster to the movies in all genres. His acting is characterized by weight, intensity and rare presence. The properties will be of good use in the role of Harry Potter's mortal enemy and evil incarnate, Lord Voldemort. But, they also constitute solid foundations for virtuoso comic performance as the lead role in Wes Anderson's new film
The Great Budapest Hotel, in Swedish cinemas during spring 2014.

This year's recipient of the film festival's Honorary Dragon Award is the British actor and director Ralph Fiennes. Ever since his on screen debut in Wuthering Heights (1992), he has belonged to that rare group of actors whose mere presence gives magical lustre to films of all genres. Throughout the years, the classics of British literature have been a main trace in his career, from numerous Shakespeare interpretations on stage, to the two films he directed himself: an adaptation of Shakespeare's Corolianus (2011) and his new film, The Invisible Woman (2013), where he plays the great novelist Charles Dickens in a story about Dicken's secret love affair with young actress Nelly Teman. In honour of Mr. Fiennes, the festival presents a special event which includes a screening of The Invisible Woman followed by a Master Class with Ralph Fiennes, moderated by Jonas Holmberg, the festival's deputy Artistic Director. The talk will be held in English.
•
January 26 at 12.15pm - The English Patient screening (Venue: Cinema Roy / Tickets: 90 SEK)
