Javier Bardem Silva Skyfall
A celebration of Javier Bardem, one of the best and most charming actors of all time and a wonderful human being in real life. And one of the biggest reasons to see Skyfall again because of his outstanding performance as Raoul Silva. (The scene where he and Bond meets for the first time is an act of genius in our eyes.)

With this special page, From Sweden with Love would like to celebrate Javier Bardem on his birthday (and Bond girl Lana Wood who also is born on March 1).

"Dear Javier, happy birthday and keep up the great work you're doing. Saludos de Suecia."

About Javier Bardem:
As Spain's most internationally acclaimed actor, Javier Bardem (born 1969) has captivated audiences worldwide with his diverse performances. In 2008, Bardem received the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actor for his chilling portrayal of sociopath killer, Anton Chigurh, in Joel and Ethan Coen's No Country for Old Men (2007). The performance garnered a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA, and countless film critic awards and nominations.

Bardem has also been awarded the Best Actor prize at the 2010 Cannes film festival for his performance in Alejandro Innaritu's Biutiful. This performance also earned him his third Academy Award nomination. Bardem received his first Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of the Cuban poet and dissident Reinaldo Arenas, in Julian Schnabel's Before Night Falls (2000). He was named Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, received Best Actor honors from the National Society of Film Critics, the Independent Spirit Awards, the National Board of Review, and received a Golden Globe nomination for this role.

Bardem won the Best Actor Award at the Venice film festival for his performance in Alejandro Amenábar’s film The Sea Inside, making him only the second actor to win the award twice. He also won a Goya Award and received a Golden Globe nomination for this role. Bardem has won the Goya Award, Spain's equivalent of the Oscar, six times and has received a total of nine nominations.

Other notable film credits include Eat, Pray, Love (2010); Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008); Mike Newell's Love In The Time of Cholera (2007); Milos Forman's film Goya's Ghosts (2006) with Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård; Michael Mann's Collateral (2004); John Malkovich's directorial debut The Dancer Upstairs (2002) and Fernando León de Aranoa's Mondays In The Sun (2002).

Bardem also co-produced and starred in Sons of the Clouds: The Last Colony, a film documenting how the colonization of the Western Sahara has left nearly 200,000 people living in refugee camps. In October 2011, Bardem and his co-producer Alvaro Longoria, the film’s director, addressed the United Nations General Assembly’s decolonization committee, urging the delegates to end human rights abuses in the region. The film premiered at the 62nd annual Berlin International Film Festival in January 2012.

In 2012, Bardem also starred in Terrence Malick's film, To the Wonder, featuring an all-star ensemble that included Bond girl Olga Kurylenko. The film follows the story of a romantic drama centered on a man who reconnects with a woman from his hometown after his marriage to a European woman falls apart.

After the Skyfall (2012) premiere in October 2012, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with director Sam Mendes as well as actresses Bérénice Marloe and Naomie Harris in attendance.

Javier Bardem is married to actress Penelope Cruz since 2010 with whom he has two children.

Editor's note:
