About Stephanie Sigman:
An immensely charming and striking actress,
Stephanie Sigman continues to challenge herself with each new role she takes on.
Sigman will next be seen in theaters across the globe in Sam Mendes’ SPECTRE opposite Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes.
SPECTRE is due for release in the UK on October 26, 2015 and in the US on November 6, 2015.
She is currently in production on the Untitled Detective Comedy film alongside Bruce Willis, John Goodman and Jason Mamoa. The film is about an L.A. detective who seeks out the ruthless gang that stole his dog.
Sigman recently wrapped production on two projects. Up first is Netflix’s highly-anticipated new series,
Narcos (2015). The show takes a chronicled look at the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar and his Medellin Cartel. Sigman plays Valeria Velez, Pablo Escobar’s (Wagner Moura) longtime mistress. The show is expected to debut late-summer 2015. Following, Sigman will be seen in John Michael McDonagh’s indie film
War on Everyone (2015). The film follows two corrupt cops in New Mexico who set out to blackmail and frame every criminal unfortunate enough to cross their path. Sigman stars alongside Swedish actor
Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Pena and Theo James.
She is most widely known for her lead performance in the feature
Miss Bala (2011) for director Gerardo Naranjo. The film debuted in Cannes and was selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the 2011 Academy Awards. Betsy Sharkey, critic for the
Los Angeles Times called her performance: “haunting… Sigman disappears completely inside Laura's skin, taking her from tentative hope to absolute fear with barely the blink of an always wary eye. Watching her face telegraph helplessness and resignation as she is transformed from an innocent into a mule…is as unnerving as it is mesmerizing.”
Previous credits include FX’s
The Bridge (2013-2014) opposite Demian Bichir and Diane Krueger. She also starred in the film
Pioneer (2013), opposite Aksel Hennie and Wes Bentley. The film had its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 and was Norway’s submission for the Best Foreign Film category for the Oscars that year.
Editor's Note:
Previous Mexican actors in the Bond film series include
Pedro Armendáriz (Karim Bey, Bond's ally, in
From Russia with Love) and his son,
Pedro Armendáriz Jr, who played President Hector Lopez in
Licence to Kill. Other Mexican actors in LTK include
Alejandro Bracho,
Edna Bolkan and
Sergio Corona.
