About Roger Moore:
Roger George Moore was born on October 14, 1927 in Stockwell, England, the son of a London policeman. He aspired to be an artist before catching the acting bug while working as an extra in British films. After serving in the military at the close of WWII, he came to Hollywood and made several features under contract with MGM. However, it was his TV work that catapulted him to fame in the U.S., first with Ivanhoe , then Maverick, and later as Simon Templar in The Saint ('62-'69), the role that led to Moore's casting as the new 007 in Live and Let Die (1973).

With his suave charm and boyishly handsome good looks, Sir Roger Moore embodied the ideal screen idol of the '60s and '70s. Internationally famous for his tongue-in-cheek portrayal of super-spy James Bond, Moore's most heroic role has been as himself, succeeding Audrey Hepburn as an ambassador for UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund), traveling across the globe to promote the needs of underprivileged children.

Sir Roger Moore went on to star in seven Bond pictures altogether, including The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985). Moore's many other TV and film credits include: The Alaskans (1959), The Persuaders! (1971), The Cannonball Run (1981), Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970), Shout at the Devil (1976), The Wild Geese (1978) and Escape to Athena (1979).
