On this day 100 years ago, Aston Martin (the car manufacturer most famous for its connection with the James Bond films) was founded. Sean Connery drove the DB5 in Goldfinger (1964) (1964) and Thunderball (1965) (1965), Pierce Brosnan drove it in GoldenEye (1995) (1995) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) while Daniel Craig drove one in Casino Royale (2006) and Skyfall (2012).
Aston Martin is one of the world’s most iconic automotive brands. Independent in spirit and ownership, they remain resolute and true to the ethos of creating cars that embrace advanced engineering, yet exude understated elegance.
2013 marks a significant milestone for Aston Martin – their 100th Anniversary and the start of a second century.
Editor's note:
In
Ian Fleming's novel of
Goldfinger (1959), James Bond drove an
Aston Martin DB Mark III . The decision to use the DB5 in the film version was made after a decision to use the company's latest car.
In the films -
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969),
Casino Royale (2006) and
Quantum of Solace (2008) - James Bond drives the
DBS model of the Aston.
In
The Living Daylights (1987) 007 drives the
Vantage Volante (V8) and in
Die Another Day (2002) (2002) he drives the
Vanquish (V12).
