Birthday of Neal Purvis, British screenwriter & producer and member of the 'James Bond family' since 1999. Neal has penned the last six 007 films with Robert Wade.
In 2012, before the release of
Skyfall, FSWL caught up with the screenwriting duo to talk about their work on the James Bond film series. Read our
interview with Neal Purvis & Robert Wade.
With this special page, FSWL would like to extend our best wishes to Neal for his birthday.
"Dear Neal, happy birthday and warm regards from Sweden. Keep up the great work."
About Neal Purvis:
Born 1961.
Neal Purvis and has his long-time collaborator, Robert Wade, had their first success with the screenplay for the controversial screen drama
Let Him Have It, based on a true story about the killing of a policeman. The critically acclaimed film, directed by Peter Medak, was screened for Parliament and played a part in Derek Bentley's eventual posthumous pardon.
They have since worked in a variety of genres with screenplays for such films as The Wasp Factory, an adaptation of Iain Banks' novel for director Stephen Daldry,
Plunkett and Macleane (1999) directed by Jake Scott, and
Grid Iron for Working Title.
Between writing the James Bond films,
The World Is Not Enough (1999) and
Die Another Day (2002), they worked on
Johnny English (2003) starring Rowan Atkinson and John Malkovich. They also wrote and co-produced
Return to Sender (2004) for Danish director Bille August and performed the same duties on
Stoned (2005) for director Stephen Woolley.
In 2005, Purvis and Wade wrote the screenplay to the highly successful
Casino Royale (2006), and even before the film was released they were at work on Bond 22,
Quantum of Solace (2008).
In 2011, the sequel to Johnny English was released,
Johnny English Reborn, based on their characters from the first film.
With
Skyfall (2012) (2012) and
SPECTRE (2015), Purvis and Wade have worked on the screenplay for every one of the last six James Bond films.
On 19th July 2013, the
screenwriting duo received Honorary Degrees from the University of Kent.
Purvis & Wade nominations and awards as screenwriters include:
• Nominated for Best Screenplay (adapted) at the BAFTA Awards 2007 for
Casino Royale (shared with Paul Haggis)
