Sheriff J.W. Peppar in LIVE AND LET DIE 1973 and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN 1974
The first time I met the kind Clifton James (Sheriff J.W. Pepper in the 1973 film Live and Let Die and 1974's The Man with the Golden Gun) he made a great impact on me.
James turned out to be a very friendly man and a pleasure to meet after such a long and successful career in the movie business.
Now living in New York with his wife, Clifton told me he reads a lot, for example Swedish detective books such as the novels about police inspector Kurt Wallander.
This was very nice to hear although I also recommended him to read the books about a Swedish secret agent called ‘Carl Hamilton’ (written by Jan Guillou for those interested). He took notice on that tip immediately as he told me on the Sunday that he had called his wife to tell her to find out if these books were available in USA until he arrived back home.
