In the heart of Kiruna's breathtaking winter landscape, Free Church pastor Viktor Strandgård is murdered. He lies on his back in Kraftkälla Church and observes the northern lights shining through the enormous roof windows while his life is fading away.

Rebecka Martinsson, a young single lawyer in Stockholm receives a phone call from her childhood friend Sanna. She has just found her brother brutally ritually murdered in the church and appealing for Rebecka's help. Reluctantly, Rebecca returns to her hometown and her traumatic memories of suggestive lust and admiration for the charismatic Free Church's leader, who she with great effort made her free from.

Rebecka dives deeper into the murder mystery which leads her toward a bloody dissipation. Guilt and threats falls heavily over Kiruna along with snow and darkness.
