Our friend, "James Bond villain" Robert Davi gives another concert singing Sinatra songs.
A TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA, THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK, AND AMERICA.
On January 15th, 2011,
Robert Davi, backed by a 50 piece orchestra, will perform his show "DAVI SINGS SINATRA: A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, the Great American Songbook, and America," at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. Davi will bring to life his love letter to Sinatra and The Great American Songbook – composed by many of America's greatest songwriters and lyricists.
Sinatra, he believes, is the greatest singing genius that America has ever produced and the songs he sang represent nothing less than the “Shakespeare of America.” The Great American Songbook – composed in the early to mid 20th century – crossed and continues to cross all cultural boundaries. And why? They touch the heart and move the soul; they can bring you to tears; and they can make you swing. The American Songbook, in fact, is one of the reasons why the world fell in love with America and Sinatra is its definitive interpreter.

Background:
In July 2010, Robert Davi gave three sold out performances of
Davi Sings Sinatra in New York. He received standing ovations each night.
On July 16th, 2010, Ervin Drake, one of the last living legends of The American Songbook, who penned the classic “It Was A Very Good Year,” and wrote for some of the biggest names in music, (and who is also a very young 91), attended the opening night of Davi Sings Sinatra. He was so impressed with what he saw and heard, he returned two days later to take in a second performance. As he was leaving, he left behind a message for Davi, which reads as follows:
“
Robert Davi would make a worthy successor to the incomparable Frank Sinatra, whether in the fields of Stage, Screen or Television. And having been chosen years ago by the Master himself, to act in a film side by side with him, this is not a vain pronouncement.”
On October 22nd, he brought his show to Washington D.C. for a command performance at the Hilton Washington Grand Ballroom for an audience of 1.500 for the 35th anniversary gala of
NIAF (The National Italian American Foundation), which was also the 25th anniversary of NIAF honoring Frank Sinatra.
Future performances:
In February or March 2011, he will perform in concert with a 50 piece orchestra at the 5,000 seat
Ramona Bowl in Hemet, California. There are discussions to perform in Atlantic City, NJ and Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011-2012. Then Davi will embark on a nation-wide tour to promote the release of his new album, “Davi Sings Sinatra: On The Road to Romance.”
Robert Davi is also in the planning stages for a world-wide tour of this show. Watch this space as FSWL will provide more information about that when available.
