About Keith Hamshere:
Keith Hamshere was born in 1946 and started his career as an actor. In 1960, he appeared as “Oliver” in the original Lionel Bart production of the musical of the same name. But Keith's career in front of the camera was short as he decided to try his hand behind the camera.
After working his way through the London’s cool swinging 1960’s photographic scene, Keith was invited by unit photographer, John Jay, to work on a new film that a hot young Turk called Stanley Kubrick was directing. That film was
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Keith spent over 2 years working alongside Kubrick, a photographer himself, helping him on many special visual effects that still stand up to today's modern CGI.
In 1984, Keith worked with Steven Spielberg on
Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. His credits on IMDB are rather special and incl. numerous films, most of which we are all familiar with, such as the “Stars Wars” series.
He continues to be busy shooting on major blockbusters and small indies alike, and he very much believes in providing the client with the widest possible range of photographic content on set, ranging from traditional stills, specials to advertising promotional imagery.
Hamshere embraces new technology and was one of the first unit photographers to adapt to the digital age. He has developed a company producing 360 degree virtual movie sets which provide amazing content for the film studios.
Keith is currently the European Vice President of
The Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers.
