Wing Commander who flew
Little Nellie in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE 1967
The first time I met the wonderful and talented man was during the
Bond Girls Are Forever day arranged by the Bondstars team at Pinewood Studios on July 2, 2006.
Mr Wallis said he was lucky to have been part of the phenomenon as he gave a small lecture about his vehicle at the end of the day.
Ken described the background for the construction of it which was very interesting to hear, being a Bond fan or just interested in engineering.
In July 2007, the book
The Lives of Ken Wallis: Engineer and Aviator Extraordinaire by Ian Hancock was published and in July 2010 the documentary
Born to Bond was released on DVD to commemorate the extraordinary life of Ken Wallis.
Update 3/9/2013:
Ken Wallis - the man who flew Little Nellie in
You Only Live Twice (1967) - has passed away aged 97 reports
BBC News Norfolk. Our condolences go out to his family, friend and aviation friends. Rest in peace, Ken.
