The Baltimore Boat Show has announced a new entertainment feature that includes a lot of Bond…James Bond. The Boats of Bond Exhibit, on display at Baltimore Boat Show from Saturday, January 21 through Sunday, January 29, 2006, will feature five custom boats and James Bond movie memorabilia. The collection at the Baltimore Boat Show will appear in association with the Ian Fleming Foundation.
The boats in the Boats of Bond Exhibit are the high tech, specialty vehicles from some of the most famous action scenes and chases in the James Bond film series, including:
• The underwater
Tow Sled from THUNDERBALL (1965), used by James Bond and the villain Largo.
• The underwater
Bath-O-Sub from DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971), used by 007’s nemesis, Blofeld, to escape from the oil-drilling platform that doubled as his headquarters.
• The sleek
Glastron Amazon Chase Boat from MOONRAKER (1979), the most lethal of the boats on display; its hidden rocket launchers, escaping hang-glider, and other gadgetry actually worked.
• The
Neptune Submarine from FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (1981), one of two originally built by the film’s production company, and operated by stunt men using scuba gear.
• “Q’s”
Jet Boat from THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999), performed the barrel roll stunt seen in the film’s exciting opening sequence.
In addition to the boats, the Boats of Bond Exhibit will feature memorabilia from other favorite James Bond films, such as Odd Job’s death hat from Goldfinger, an electrified wristwatch from The World is Not Enough, a briefcase from From Russia with Love, and reproductions of original movie posters.
The Boats of Bond Exhibit, as well as the collection of artifacts, are among the rarest of all Bond memorabilia; several items are the only ones in the world.
Bond alike Day
To celebrate the Boats of Bond Exhibit, the Baltimore Boat Show will host "Bond-alike Day" on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Boat show visitors who come dressed as 007, a Bond Girl, a Bond Villain or another character from James Bond movies will receive $2 off admission. Costume ideas are listed on the boat show website.
