Never before has such a strange entourage been seen in the West. Dressed as if they were going to a cocktail party, a group of aristocrats travel through the wilderness, looked after by a butler with champagne and foie gras on hand during hunting breaks. But those hired to protect the entourage have evil plans and lure them into Apache country. It is obvious that all the aristocrats will now be killed, if it is not for the fact that one of the West's toughest gunslingers is nearby. His name is Shalako!
Both Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot – the biggest sex symbols of the 1960s – turned down the 007 rabble in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) to play Shalako instead. In addition to Connery, the film is enriched with other 007 acquaintances such as Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore in Goldfinger), cinematographer Ted Moore (Goldfinger, Thunderball etc.) and action coordinator Bob Simmons (The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy etc.). The film is based on a bestseller by Louis L’Amour, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for Hondo with John Wayne.
