Edinburgh International Film Festival partner with The Sean Connery Foundation for the third year

For the third consecutive year, Edinburgh International Film Festival is partnering with The Sean Connery Foundation on The Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence. The festival runs from 13th August until 19th August 2026 in the city where Sir Sean Connery was born.

This ultra-competitive selection of ten brand new feature films presents a panorama of contemporary film and exciting new film making talent. Decided by audience vote, the 50,000 GBP prize aligns the most exciting new filmmakers in the world with the legacy of Scotland’s biggest global star, the original James Bond 007, Sir Sean Connery.

• The Mad World of Harvey Kurtzman directed by Bart Simpson
• Mission directed by Paul Wright
• Out There directed by Simon Ryninks
• Pretty Babies directed by Tyler-Marie Evans
• Sacred Creatures directed by Frieda Luk
• Skintown directed by Kieron J. Walsh
• Snapshot directed by Joseph Archer
• The State of Us directed by Ollie Gardner and Jake Harvey

About The Sean Connery Foundation (SCF)


Established through Sir Sean Connery’s estate, honours the legacy of Sean Connery through strategic grantmaking to institutions and organisations in the two countries he called home: Scotland and the Bahamas.

In Scotland, the Sean Connery Foundation invests primarily in film and golf. A central priority is supporting emerging Scottish talent and expanding opportunities for individuals to access and succeed within these industries. In the Bahamas, the Foundation focuses on ocean and marine conservation, alongside building the next generation of ocean leaders.

Note: As part of this year's Retrospective during the festival, the 1996 film The Rock starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage will be screened on Tuesday 18th August 2026 at 5.45pm in the Film House with an introduction by Jason Connery.
