Following the passing of actor Tchéky Karyo two weeks ago, the From Sweden with Love is very saddened to hear of the passing of Lee Tamahori on 7th November 2025 at the age of 75. The New Zealand born director directed Pierce Brosnan's fourth and final film as James Bond, Die Another Day (2002). Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Screenwriters
Neal Purvis and
Robert Wade told
From Sweden with Love:
“Lee was a very generous, kind and fun guy. He took on the huge responsibility of helming what, even by Bond standards, was a massive film - far bigger than anything he’d done before - with good humour and an instinct to trust the team. He was unflappable in the face of many challenges, and had the grit to make the film he wanted to. It was a very enjoyable ride and his enthusiasm was infectious - he loved the craziness of it all. Our thoughts are with his family.”
Die Another Day soundtrack composer
David Arnold posted the following on X:
“Sad news. I had a great time working with Lee... He was very funny and super interested in everything... Absolutely everything. Curious and creative. Love to his family.”
