Art Director on the 1987 James Bond film The Living Daylights.

The first time I met Terry Ackland-Snow was at an event at the famous Pinewood Studios in July 2007. The event was organised by Gareth Owen, Sir Roger Moore's PA among many things.

From my point of view it looked as if Terry enjoyed the event, seeing friends from the industry and mingling with Bond aficionados.

About Terry Ackland-Snow:
In 2001, Terry Ackland-Snow set up Film Design International at Pinewood Film Studios. The idea for it was to offer draughtsmanship courses for the film and television industry.

Terry teaches the courses personally, so students benefit from the vast knowledge, skills and techniques Terry has acquired throughout his illustrious career.

His first job was working as a Junior Draughtsman on a TV series entitled 'Richard the Lion Heart'. The first major feature film he worked on was 'In the Cool of the Day' in 1962.

From then on he worked his way from junior positions, up to Art Director, Supervision Art Director and finally Production Designer before deciding to set up Film Design International to give something back to the industry he is passionate about.

Terry has travelled and worked worldwide. He has been in the Film and Television Industry for more than 40 years working with some of the best Art Department Technicians in the world. Having worked on over 80 film and television productions, he has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience – all of which he applies to his Art Direction training courses.

Terry is also:
• Chairman of The British Film Designers Guild (BFDG)
• On the Board of Cine Guilds of Great Britain
• A Member of The Media and Entertainment Union (BECTU)
• An honorary member of The British Society of Cinematographers
• Adjudicates for BAFTA (Crafts Category)

“Terry has worked with me on a number of 1st feature films and was a constant benefit to our work both technically and artistically. I relied on his organising ability at all times.” - Peter Murton
